100% Vermentino, sourced from the sourced from the Chalmers Family’s Merbein vineyard in the Murray Darling region of Victoria. Wholebunch fruit was basket pressed with full solids to tank for wild fermentation and maturation on lees for 6 months.

TASTING NOTES

Crisp and Saline, with notes of grapefruit zest, white peach, Bosc pear, and a delicate yellow flower aroma. This dry wine offers refreshingly bright acidity, balanced by a soft, pleasing texture from extended maturation on lees.

REGION

The Murray Darling, spanning north-west Victoria and western New South Wales along the Murray River, is a vibrant wine region known for its diverse wine styles, food scene, and natural beauty. Together with Swan Hill to the southeast, it forms Australia's third-largest winegrowing region. Despite its vast size, the climate is consistently hot with long sunny days, low humidity, and minimal rainfall, reducing disease pressure. The region's unique calcareous soils, ranging from sandy loam to loamy sand, contribute to its distinctive viticulture.

GROWERS

The Chalmers Family, who began growing grapes in the 1980s, have significantly impacted the Australian wine industry through their work importing around 70 mainly Italian grapevine clones and varieties. With their nurseries and vineyards in Merbein and Heathcote, the Chalmers family promotes viticultural diversity and carefully matches grape varieties to suitable sites, all while focusing on sustainable practices to shape the future of regional Australian wine.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

The Murray Darling experienced above-average winter and spring rainfall, followed by a dry harvest with just one March rain event. Yields were slightly below average but of excellent quality overall.

Fermentation: Wild yeast fermented

Maturation: On full-lees for 6 months in tank, no stiring

Filtration: Unfiltered and unfined
