SOIL: Mostly alluvial soils with traces of limestone marl.
ALTITUDE: From 280 to 310 meters a.s.l.
VINEYARDS: From 22 to 12 years old.
TRAINING SYSTEM: Spurred Cordon, organic farming.
VINTAGE: Winter was average, but with a small amount of snow in March. Spring was mild and punctuated by infrequent but heavy rains. The early part of the summer was hot, but beneficial rains provided necessary water resources. September was stable, allowing for optimal ripening. A balanced and interesting vintage.
HARVEST: First half of September.
VINIFICATION: Cold soaked prior to fermentation for color and aromatics. Spontaneous fermentation occurred in temperature controlled stainless steel, with 10 days on the skins. The Sangiovese was specially selected for fruit and freshness.
AGING: French oak barrel (10-50 Hl) for a few months.
TASTING NOTES: The wine is bright ruby, with an almost saline aroma accompanied by strong notes of cherry, with a subtle spiciness. Energetic on the palate with good acidity and balanced, integrated tannins.
