Yonaguni Island is one of the most remote locations from the main island of Japan, about 2000 kms south west of Tokyo and just over 100 kms from Taiwan. Taken over in 1972 by current owner Hajime Sakimoto, this distillery uses the traditional method in their awamori production of boiling the awamori on an open flame.
It is also one of only three distilleries on the island.
